I made this wedding cake for a friend in Boise. The best part about it was the delicious flavors. The top layer (6-inch) was almond cake with cherry pie filling. The second layer (10-inch) was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. The third layer (14-inch) was buttermilk cake with strawberry pie filling. And the largest layer (18-inch) was chocolate buttermilk with chocolate cream filling. It was frosted with yummy buttercream (except the carrot cake) and then covered with fondant that I made from scratch. I'm not a big fan of using fondant because I think it's yucky, but that's what Aubrey wanted. I think my own fondant tasted much better than the store-bought. I added vanilla and butter flavorings, that helped a lot. It wasn't really that hard to make, the hardest part was finding the weird ingredients (glucose and glycerin). The orange flowers were piped ahead of time and made from buttercream frosting. The pearl border at the base of each layer was also made with buttercream. Yummy!
Aubrey's Wedding Cake looks outstanding. The cake looks so pretty and very tasty as well. At one of the home studios NYC we attended a small cake show hosted by a new cake designer who runs her business from home. It was just great show and I already have hired her for my custom wedding day cake.
